Water Based Painting Class Wednesday Afternoon Term 1

Service Description

​Water-based paints offer us a great way to explore expressive mark-making, to appreciate colour and to allow us to capture a scene or create a composition with a quick turnaround. Join seasoned professional artist and educator Mark Mulholland and expand your visual awareness and advance media handling using your choice of watercolours, tempera paints, acrylics or ink washes. Using your own imagery, our bank of printed visual stimuli, or available still life objects, you will create a variety of artworks. These afternoon sessions will allow you to work on your own projects and help cultivate confidence. Mark will take you through some basic dos and don’ts, but the teaching method focuses on differentiated approaches for each participant with ‘what works for you’ pointers and supportive suggestions to facilitate good progress, where working at your own pace is encouraged. Skills development will include: Media handling  (brushwork and palette knife) coupling of materials for 'mixed media' Colour mixing Awareness of layout/compositional options (turning an image into a good artwork) You can expect tutor demonstrations, short instructional slideshows and ‘How To’ activity sheets to help cement learning. This course is capped at 10 participants per session to ensure good 1-to-1 time, offering insightful tutoring and quality feedback for effective next steps. All materials, refreshments and creative inspiration are included.
