Course Description:
This 6-week course offers a great introduction (or reintroduction for those with some experience) into using acrylic paint.
Join seasoned professional artist and educator Mark Mulholland for 12 hours of relaxed creative stimulation and bring joy and sense of achievement to your Thursday evenings.
Using your own imagery, or our bank of printed visual stimuli, you will create one or two paintings. You will be guided through planning out initial sketched compositions to laying down 1st layers of paint and onto the finished piece – one that you’ll be proud to show off!
Mark will take you through some basic dos and don’ts, but the teaching method focuses on ‘what works for you’ with pointers and supportive suggestions to facilitate good progress, where working at your own pace is encouraged.
Skills development will include:

Consideration of layout and turning an image into a good artwork

Identifying stages of a painting (Beginning – Middle – End)
You can expect tutor demonstrations, short instructional slideshows and ‘How To’ activity sheets to help cement learning.
This course is capped at 10 participants per session to ensure good 1-to-1 time, offering insightful tutoring and quality feedback for effective next steps.

Course Description:
Enjoy this easy introduction to printmaking (whether you are new to my printmaking sessions or are a returning participant), where you’ll learn of the graphic and illustrative qualities of block printing. Over the course of six weeks, we’ll be getting to grips with a handful of printing materials and techniques; both traditional and contemporary.
You will be able to develop or reestablish your working knowledge of positive and negative lines and shapes – core concepts in the reductive process of Linocut carving, as well as using card and EVA foam as a printing method.
Facilitated by Mark, and using your own imagery, or our bank of printed visual stimuli, you will create sequences/editions of at least two print designs using the two different techniques – but keep an eye on the clock as time will fly during these highly engrossing sessions!
Mark will offer pointers and supportive suggestions to facilitate good progress, where working at your own pace is encouraged.
Skills development will include:
✔ Consideration of layout and turning an image into a good artwork
✔ Confident media handling: cutting/incising, inking up and rolling/pressing
✔ Creating print ‘Editions’ and ‘Varied Editions’

Paint Along
Join us for a relaxed, guided painting session designed to help you switch off and enjoy the process. Follow Mark's guided step by step instruction and complete a painting you'll be proud to frame in 2 hours.
All materials and equipment provided.
These sessions are social, welcoming and suitable for all experience levels.
You’re welcome to bring your own drinks to enjoy during the session. (Drinks not included as part of package and event must be booked in advance)
